iOS and Android apps gave a leaner more streamlined mobile experience to bolster the online versions.
3 Minutes
2 Launch
HP
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
Concept, Art Direction, and design for a rich media digital campaign that exceeded HP's targets by 400%.
HP were finding it difficult to reach the youthful 16-24 year age bracket, so to promote brand awareness we devised a competiton, shot some compelling video and combined it with social sharing functionality.
We were targeting budding film makers, and organised a competition for the best 3 minute video. The winner would make their own digital TV show as part of a placement in Tim Lovejoy's digital TV studio, along with some great hi-end computer kit from HP.
Using a small film crew shooting 'guerilla style' we got footage of the UK's leading Parkour runner in South London and on the Southbank. For the 30 second ad we integrated social media share features, and targeted placement carefully on video and youth orientated sites. Using tracking technology we could see that it was indeed being shared (and replayed) massively, and the campaign proved to be a great success blowing away HP's target CTR figures.
Integrated Campaign
Plusnet
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Karmarama
An integrated tactical campain for Plusnet, containing digital, press and out-of-home advertising.
We wanted to introduce a playful element into the campaign, whilst keeping the cost benefit very clear. We created a set of illustrations that brought the ad's to life, and made the characters stong elements of the narrative. The campaign contained a half a dozen through-the-line digital and press concepts.
Careful Driver
Zurich Insurance
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
A digital campaign which produced Zurich Insurance's highest performing click through rate of 2.8%.
Part of an integrated campaign, where for digital rather than merely showing the TV ad online I wanted to push the creative and produce something that would really capture the viewers attention. I proposed a short edit of the DRTV culminating in a very tangiable surprise. The result proved to be the most successful piece of digital advertising that Zurich Insurance had enjoyed.
Small Business Small Office
HP
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
'Small Business Small Office' was a very large EMEA wide Business-to-Business campaign containing digital, press and outdoor advertisments, along with a micro-site, landing pages, EDM, and display. The sector was highly important to Personal Services Group (PSG) arm of HP, and a large and imporant account for the agency.
I was responsible for creative sign-off for large sections of the digital and print creative, across EMEA. I led creative teams and designers, art directed and designed a micro-site and advertising for a number of business focused products. Press ad's and OOH would be developed from the digital idea and I would oversee the development of these too.
Mégane Launch
Renault
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
For the launch of the new Renault Mégane we created two campaigns focusing on the desirability of the car, but taking very different approaches—one using an interactive video, and the other with voxpops recorded after a day on a test track. We included an interactive 3D model to give a walkaround and showing the variety of colours available.
The video examples shown here contain pre-recorded interaction.
Design
Philosophy
HP
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
Design Philosophy is a microsite to promote HP's consumer notebooks. The idea was to focus much more on the design and desirability of products, clearly important to consumers. This would help move the company's PSG offerings away from the dusty business image they had. We used a rich environment with video's and animation for the microsite, which was a great success and used a the template for EMEA.
The campaign was wide ranging and would include both digital and print communications, primarily including digital display, micro-site, press & outdoor, which I would be responsible for sign-off.
Website & booking funnel redesign
Easyjet
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Publicis
Concept and design work for the easyJet website. I wanted to establish an attractive design that would house chunks of information such as premium selling area, cross-sell area, booking funnel, and additional info in an easily scannable format. I also spent time on the booking funnel, to make it clearer and to help reduce drop-off, by amongst other things creating a clear hierachy, highlighting the essention information for the customer.
We also did a lot of fun banners for them with very tight deadlines. They could be quite fun and very cheesy, so to balance the serious nature of thier site re-design I include an example here.
Facebook Site
John Lewis
Role: Art Direction / Design
Agency: Adam & Eve
Design and Art Direction for a number of sections of the John Lewis Facebook site. We developed a number of sections to help bring the company closer to it's fans, with the ability to be able to support chosen charities, keep up-to-date with new launches, explore their local shops, and use a giftfinder.
Digital Business Portal
BBC
Role: Concept / Art Direction / Design
Agency: Capablue
Concepts and design for a new business portal proposal to facilitate the registration and approval of new devices for the BBC iPlayer. The existing system was confusing for Digital Business partners to understand and offered no indication of where you were through the process of registering.
We proposed powerful but elegant way to simplify the process and provide complete transparency. We also proposed a number of value add features for registered members including a forum, news, a complete document store and a regular client showcase.
Designer of the year website
Design Museum
Role: Design / Flash Design & Coding
Agency: Edwards Churcher
A microsite to promote and support the Design Museum's 'Designer of the Year' award. Using the beautiful new identity created by GTF, and following wonderfully exacting design critera we created a site to showcase the designers, give details on the judges and facilitate online voting.
The result was innovative and elegant and went live for a number of months preceeding the awards online and on terminals within the design museum, but was so successful the design was used for the following few years awards.
Plus I got to go to the awards and say hi to that years winner - Jony Ive.
